能では小さな子どもも役者として登場することがあり、「子方（こかた）」と呼ばれます。子どもの役だけでなく、大人の役を演じることも。他の演劇では味わえない独特の雰囲気です。＜鞍馬天狗＞＜安宅＞＜船弁慶＞＜望月＞＜花筐＞などに登場。
In a Noh performance, we sometimes have child actors called “kokata”. Not only do these actors play the role of a child, but they sometimes play the role of adults as well. Such performances give off an entirely new feeling unlike any other. You can find child actors in performances such as “Kurama-Tengu”, “Ataka”, “Funa-Benkei”, “Mochizuki”, “Hanagatami”, etc.
